The only way we will say up is if they admit their mistake, which is never going to happen, and sack Moyes. He should never have even entered the equation when they sacked Pellegrini, which was the correct decision.

Lumbered with a yesterday man who has no real idea of what the premier league is like nowadays. His tried and trusted methods may have worked 10 years ago but not anymore.

He cant be held accountable for the awful individual errors that assisted two of Brightons goals yesterday, one of which did not include any involvement from a Brighton player, but he is completely to blame for the substitutions and the set up in the second half.

We could be 6 points adrift of safety after the next two games and I say could only because the other teams may not win because we are losing the next 2 games by 3 or 4 nil with Dour Dave standing scratching his chin and having no clue what to do to prevent it.

The first half we were by far the better team , yes they had a couple of chances but we had a couple more as well.

Any manager with half a brain would have told them to come out second half and take the pace out of the game by passing it around. Instead we cam out at 100mph gave the ball away a couple of times and invited them on to us.

The 70 minute substitution was criminal , not only did he take Antonio off he then decided to swap the whole formation around which was partly to blame for the second goal and the reason we didn't create anything else during the game and were hanging on in the end.

Terrible individual errors aided by the manager . And it was noticeable after the equaliser not one player took the others by the scruff of the neck and urged them on. Everyone of them went into hiding like the cowards they are.

This lot haven't got the bollocks for a relegation battle, they're yellow and the manager is a clueless prick.

What happened to Fabianski happens to virtually every keeper in every standard of football at set pieces... hes got to be stronger...he was weak as piss and if Martin or the other piece of piss had done they would be getting pelters....and rightly so..weak as piss

The sub killed us, any other view is tosh. Even if they score a screamer to make it 3-2 with Antonio on the pitch I believe we still win the game. They stepped up 20 yards when he went off. Can’t believe he couldn’t get another 5/10 mins out of him. Safety first from the dour cunt.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Brighton - Official Match Thread
Many players stagnate or dont improve at West Ham.

It is the lack of intensity and ambition. Players come here to a club that has never pushed for Champions League realistically, never come near a cup for 35 years (ok the 1 final appearance) and is happy to be mid table.

Why would a top top pro come to us for anything other than money? If that's who they are then be prepared to have a player who is hot and cold and inconsistent. Once he discovers that ambition or drive again, he will leave or if he gets offered more.money.

When the players like Arnie and anderson come, we are so desperate to make them feel welcome that we bend over and allow them to come and go as they please cos we are so damn grateful they came..creates an ego and a lack of Intensity. It's why we have always been good against big boys (at times) over the years cos the egos raise their game to show off.

We need to buy hungry lower league players who see us as a stepping stone to greatness. Players that come in and over perform every week hoping for that big move..or a youth player looking to prove himself for the same reason.

Until.we are successful, stop buying over priced names who evidently dont attract the big boys - there must be a reason. Get successful with youth and hungry players and then once you have that, u can buy the big boys and happily tell them to pull their fucking finger out when playing poorly.

Seems utter incompetence by VAR.
Fab made a weak punch with his right as Murray had hold of his other arm and was pushing him off balance.
Just utter crazy defending for the other two goals.
Masuaku just needs to smash it down the line yet pings it infield and the rebound causes utter panic.
Diop has Murray for the third and just runs away from him leaving him unmarked.

Fab made two excellent saves incl the one out of the top corner in the last minute.
With one of our other keepers we may have conceded 6 yesterday

Have to give Potter some credit for the subs he made at 3-1. The commentators were slaughtering him for not bringing on another forward, and I was actually relieved that he took off Mooy who I thought had been one of their better players.

But instead of just chucking on another forward which most managers would have done, he actually changed things up to completely exploit our obvious weaknesses.

He might be a manager to keep an eye on over the next few seasons.

Agreed with all your points. Was a foul on fab before the first goal, no idea how VAR wouldn’t see that. It happens all the time, the fouling the keeper by scummy teams is just as prevalent as the shirt pulling antics And holding by the outfield players in the box from corners

The second goal was nonsense too - I still can’t work out how fab didn’t get to it or block it though, it looked like one of those weird PlayStation glitches where you call the keeper out and he dives over the ball for no reason

But having been gifted two deflected goals, even 1 goal up with 15 minutes to go, we should be able to see it out against Brighton. No idea why Moyes didn’t break the game up making subs then - Brighton’s subs won them the game with fresh legs up against our shattered midfield especially as we had no out up front with anyone with pace to give it to

If you say so. Swt

I’m trying to be positive because Norwich are terrible and villa are all about Grealish. So we just need to be better than someone, anyone else. And fortunately, although our next two games are the toughest two of the season, all the others in the bottom 6 have two tough games in their next three

However, if (there’s that word again) we do t beat Southampton having list to city and Liverpool, I do think that’s it for us

Sbbb and Zico- some really interesting thoughts.

I’m inclined to agree it must have something to do with our player recruiting and scouting. It feels like throwing darts at photos on a wall.

As mentioned it also can’t help that there are so many mangers coming and going and we’re caught in a never ending short term approach which changes every 12-18 months. I did think Moyes at least would make us solid at the back and tough to break down at the expense of anything exciting going forward, but we looked so fragile yesterday even with seven defensive players on the pitch. There’s basic organisational errors and so many individual mistakes happening.

The amount of times there was no out ball or no-one to recieve a pass forward was extraordinary. Add to the fact we allowed them so much time and space on the ball. There were times when there was no West Ham player within 5-10 yards of a Brighton player.

Is this Moyes fault for not getting enough organisation and discipline into the players? (Although hamstrung by injuries to attackers, the selection was his fault) or is it the players just not being capable of being able to do (simple) things they’ve been asked to?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Brighton - Official Match Thread
Regardless of tactics and poor decision making, Fabianski slapping the ball into the net via Ogbonna's head or the defensive fuck up between Diop and Ogbonna cannot be legislated for.

Argue all you want about whether Noble can cut it at this level anymore or how shit Arthur is, but continue with those type of errors and we will be relegated. It's that simple.

As it is we have a massive uphill battle now and I'm not sure our squad has the character, or more to the point, the bollocks to dig us out of it.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Brighton - Official Match Thread
The defensive cock up doesn't happen if Masuaku doesn't panic hoof into a dangerous area. The bloke just doesn't have any awareness. The ball is spinning away from Ogbonna, he's never going to reach it so he has to tell Diop to clear it and that he is under pressure. He does neither and Diop is left in two minds. He's a young defender and the experienced player has to take control and give him a shout.
The lack of communication is evident throughout the game. Take the free kick where it was stepped over and loads of players didn't realise that was the plan and went offside. What a waste and why do this without anyone understanding that was going to happen.

It was clear on the replays that Fabianski was being fouled in the lead up to the weak punch for their first goal. Of course VAR ignores that. VAR should be got rid of. It is becoming too easy to manipulate the results of games and it's clear that rather than fixing issues, it's causing many more and is just as subjective as the officials first decision.

Stats lie sand iron, they may of had more possession but we were the better team in the first half. Yep they missed chances but so did we.

Brighton first goal a freak, shouldn't have happened but poor punch by Fab. We came back but the turning point in my view was Moyes subbing Masuaku for Antonio. Moyes has been saying he desperately wants to see a return to form by Lanzini and when you're two up what better time to give the lad a chance. Within a minute Masuaku played a part in their second but I have never seen such incompetence by two central defenders. You wouldn't see a cock up like that on the village recreation ground. To make matters worse Murray is allowed to turn in the six yard area to score later, unbelievable!

Defenders should be told its not an offence to belt the ball into the stands, but more importantly we need an expert defence coach because if we have one at present he is no good.

Zico - I totally agree, and Lyall and his staff were masters at it. He learned from Greenwood, who brought that approach to English football generally.

Two masters of their trade. But it has been a long time since we had somebody who was even a patch on those two. Ironically, Harry comes closest - and he's a long way short.

Thoroughness, attention to detail and planning: that comes from the top down. We have a chairman who is a reactionary simpleton and a succession of managers who are bits and bobs merchants.

You can't develop a club, or build a team/squad with that combination and approach.

As many, many of our fans know - we're Two Bob and we have been for a very long time now. The Academy of Football (and all that entailed) died a long time ago - we have been a horrific mish-mash of short-termist, unthinking bollocks for two decades.

We were on top in the first half and generally had the better of it.
But we looked vulnerable down the sides and they got in decent positions
Generally over the game they passed better than us and combined better while we relied on one off bits of play.
Second half they controlled midfield and we couldn’t get anything together up front.
Another 10 mins & suspect we’d have lost

Oh absolutely, you certainly have to want a good player, technique wise etc, although as you say a lot of what we have now aren't as good as their fees suggest!

I'm reading a book at the moment about the players that played for John Lyall (apologies for harking back to him) and when interviewed it's not surprising that certain players were saying that the scouts had them watched more than 10 times in many cases and the Club had looked into their backgrounds etc. Lyall himself in the case of Scottish players would call up Ferguson, Jim McClean and Jock Stein and ask what they thought of a Ray Stewart or McAvennie and he had a collection of Managers down South where he did the same thing.

I know the game has changed and you have to keep your cards close to your chest now as you can't trust anyone but some traits are obvious and not rocket science. Their records suggested Carroll, Wilshire and Yarmolenko were injury prone. History showed Arnautovic and Payet could be moody so and so's and likely to do one and when he arrived there were posters on here who mentioned Anderson was not a consistent and hard working player at Lazio. You can't polish a turd. Yes you can make players better players as Lyall did with the likes of David Cross, Paul Goddard and many others but they have to have that character trait inside them that "wants" to improve.

A mate at the game yesterday said we were completely all over Brighton first half.

I watched it on a stream & it certainly didn’t look that way to me. They could & should have been two up inside 10 minutes.

They also had about 60% possession first half according to the stats.

Anyone at the game yesterday that thought we were all over em?
